If you can't say something nice, at least make it funny!

Thanks for visiting Tinfoil Magnolia, a blog about my life, times, marriage, friendships and all the strange things that happen to me and with me. I hope you find something here that will encourage you, inspire you or at the least entertain you. And if it doesn't today, check back tomorrow because, my life? honestly...

That Guy

Today's post is my entry into this week's 100 Word Challengehosted by Velvet Verbosity. The 100 Word Challenge is an exercise in which we write exactly 100 words in response to the weekly prompt word. Click the link to read the other entries–good stuff over there!

This week's prompt was "gratuitous"

What he doesn't know is that he no longer means anything to me. His syrupy, sticky-sweet charm, full of gratuitous compliments, no longer pulls me into his orbit. Now, I see it for what it is. Simply a drama, a one-act play, a one-note song which only grows more tedious once you've heard it over and over.

Now I see him for what he is. The man walks away, leaves his children, and never looks back. He spends his life in pursuit of a grandiose dream that will never come to fruition. A sad, pitiful man.

  4. Thanks. Reading it again, I think I messed up my verb tenses in the second paragraph. Hope I will be forgiven.

Cake, honestly? It wasn't written as a kiss off speech, but if it works then good.

You said it perfectly. Couldn't have described it better. Well done.

  10. Too bad more people can't see this in their relationships. Perhaps there would be less of an issue if there were more awareness? Great submission, thank you.
